Wanting a Story
Another old one that we re-recorded with better quality. Enjoy!
We re-recorded this song in a bit more professional way. It was written and sung by my good friend Katie Mogelgaard. Enjoy!
The Grunwell
My buddy Marcos Harkness (http://www.reverbnation.com/marcoslightningharkness) wrote this little number and we recorded it over the weekend in Durham!
Wrote this about a year ago and finally got it recorded. Hope you like it.
Knock
Knock, knock sounds through so the music goes up
Turn back to the noise so it won’t interrupt
It’s cold out there and it’s no fun to stop
From living the life, cause it’s far to the top
Some beautiful nights with some beautiful girls
Have been retold and retold like in another man’s world
It ain’t easy painting pictures with your eyes blurred over
But making a mess is more fun than a masterpiece sober
Staying up late, will make you miss the sunrise
But forgetting the past helps the future surprise
Cause who wants to wake up and remember what’s lost
When it’s easier to live life without feeling the cost
With only a few years gone by and nothing to show
Just keep on going without letting them know
To stop and reach out for a hand that’s not there
Will only make it clear that this train’s gone nowhere
When we see the sun rise and the dark turn to light
Nighttime peels away and the truth is what’s right
The music stops, the door opens, and life breaths a sigh
And we see who’s been left in the cold, ready to die.

This is a rough recording but it’s been too long since I have posted something. I will probably clean it up and put a melody to it but for now here it is!
Wanting a Story
Each scar has a story
Each journey makes us new
Each battle brings us glory
Each lover shows us the truth
The fear is a sign to carry on
The doubt will lead us to whats right
The unknown don’t last for too long
And that pain will only last the night
I want a story to make a woman blush,
To fill other men with envy,
To lead my loved ones to laughter,
And one day, make my children proud.
The hard times seem to last forever
The good times always go too fast
The best times are when we walk together
And I know that our love will outlast
I want a story to make a woman blush,
To fill other men with envy,
To lead my loved ones to laughter,
And one day, make my children proud.
Its a struggle day in and day out
Half the time I feel like I’m lost
But I can’t just blindly walk about
Cause any good story has a cost.
Each scar has a story
Each journey makes us new
Each battle brings us glory
Each lover shows us the truth
“Down in the Deep” by Katie Mogelgaard
Drinking Before Noon
She stuck out her leg and the cars came screeching to a halt
Sitting on the sidewalk, I’m hidden, drinking, trying to do my part
I’m drinking before noon again, hoping that I can make it there
I’m drinking before noon again, hoping that I can make it there
I smell trouble, breathing down my neck
I’m seeing double, and looking like a wreck
I’m drunk before noon again, lost in the middle of nowhere
I’m drunk before noon again, lost in the middle of nowhere
She was eleven years my elder, but women don’t seem to age like wine
If curiosity killed the cat, I think I might be on life number nine
I shoulda been drunk before noon again, I’d a had a reason to lose my mind
I shoulda been drunk before noon again, I’d a had a reason to lose my mind
Just take me home, I’m afraid I’m getting old
Don’t leave me alone, this bed feels awful cold
I can’t get drunk before noon again, cause tomorrow I’ll want to kick you out the door
I can’t get drunk before noon again, cause tomorrow I’ll want to kick you out the door
No I won’t get drunk before noon again, cause tomorrow I’ll always be wanting more.
